Have a question about your order?

We ship packages and return emails Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST). We are closed Saturday and Sundays and all major holidays. If you contact us regarding your order outside of those hours, we'll get back to you as soon as we can the following business day.

Tracking Orders

How can I track my order?

Once your order ships, you’ll receive an email confirmation with tracking to the email provided on the order. If it’s outside of our expected processing window and you still don’t see it, you may need to check your junk mail folder before contacting us. Tracking can also be found in the order information on your account, log in here.

Unfortunately, USPS isn’t required to scan all First-Class and Priority shipments upon arrival at each destination, which means the tracking info can be fairly unreliable. Contacting the carrier directly is often the easiest and quickest way to obtain tracking updates for your package.

Tracking shows as Delivered but haven’t received it?

Sometimes tracking information is updated by carriers prior to delivery, so your package may arrive in the next day or so. Contacting the carrier directly is often the easiest and quickest way to obtain tracking updates for your package. If you’re still waiting for your package, please feel free to contact us and we’ll do our best to help provide an update.

Making Changes

Unfortunately, we are unable to make any changes to orders after they’ve been placed.

I forgot to add a coupon code to my order, can you apply it for me?

Oops! Unfortunately we aren't able to apply coupon codes after an order has been placed. If your coupon code has an expiration date—please contact us. In some cases we are able to extend codes.

Can I change my Shipping Address after my order is placed?

We typically cannot make any changes to orders once they have been placed, if you contact us immediately during business hours (Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST) we’ll do our best to help, but sadly, no promises!

Can I change the shipping service I selected after my order is placed?

Unfortunately, we are unable to make any changes to orders after they’ve been placed.

I’d like to add to my existing order, can I do that after it’s been placed?

Sadly, we cannot add or remove items from orders once they’ve been placed. If you have questions about placing an additional order, please contact us.

Orders Placed as Gifts

My order is being sent as a gift, can you include a gift receipt?

No worries, we never include pricing on any of our pack slips (we’ve got your back!).

Can I include a gift message with my order?

Yes, at checkout you can add a gift message up to 240 characters.

If I enter a gift message with my greeting card order, will you write it in the card?

Unfortunately, no, we’re unable to hand write gift messages, but your message will be included on the printed packing slip.

Mix + Match Deal

I’m trying to order 6 or more greeting cards (or 4 or more magnets), but I don’t see the discount in my shopping cart.

Don’t worry, if you buy 6+ greeting cards (or 4+ magnets) of any combination the price should drop automatically to just $3.75 per card (or magnet)! No coupon code needed!

Okay, well, I added 6 or more cards (or 4 or more magnets) to my cart and the price didn’t drop!

We’re sorry to hear that. There could be a few reasons why the discount didn’t apply correctly:

  1. The 6+ greeting card discount only applies to regularly priced cards. You’ll need to order 6 or more regularly priced cards ($5.00 each) for the discount to apply automatically. Same for the magnets, it applies to 4 or more regularly priced magnets ($5.00 each) for the discount to apply automatically.
  2. Sometimes if items are added to your cart too quickly the discount won’t be triggered. Please try updating your cart and giving our magical app a chance to do its thing.
  3. If the discount still isn’t applying, please try a new browser or clear your cache on your current browser.
  4. If the discount STILL isn’t working for you, please free to contact us before you complete your order and we’ll see what we can do to help. Kindly note, we’re always happy to help with questions about this Mix + Match deal, but, sadly, we cannot refund for discounts after an order has been placed.

Sales Tax

Em + Friends is required by law to charge sales tax on orders shipping to those US states where we have physical or economic nexus. Rates are calculated according to state, county, and municipality guidelines. In some states, shipping charges are also subject to tax. All required tax calculations are visible during checkout for review prior to payment authorization.

Gift Cards

Please note: As of October 2021, Gift Cards will no longer be offered online for purchase. If you a received a Gift Card or purchased one prior to October 2021, it will still be honored and redeemable online. Please contact us if you have any questions.

How do I redeem my gift card?

During the checkout process you’ll see a box where you can enter discount codes and/or gift card information. If you have a valid discount code, please enter that first, then your digital gift card code.

If your gift card covers the total value of your order, then you can continue through the checkout process, confirm your order and you’re finished! Any balance on your gift card will remain available towards a future purchase.

If your gift card doesn’t cover the full value of your order, don’t worry! You’ll be able to pay the open balance by credit card or via PayPal.

Where and how are your products manufactured?

Our cards are offset printed in Los Angeles using environmentally friendly soy inks on recycled paper. Our art prints are printed in the USA. Some styles of our mugs are fabricated in China and printed in the USA, and the rest are manufactured completely in China. The remainder of our products are manufactured in China, at vetted factories who work with several US-based brands.

Can you customize colors or change a word on something for me?

Unfortunately, we're not able to change or customize any of our products. Hopefully you'll still be able to find something you like!

Will you guys ever make t-shirts? I really want t-shirts.

Where can I get those free printable spice labels you made?

Those labels were designed as a special project for, and you can download them.

Can I buy that font from you so I can make my own labels? I don't see a label for unicorn tears, and I have a huge jar of them!

Those labels were actually each drawn by hand; no font was involved. So no, unfortunately, there is no matching font available.

How did you start your product line?

What advice do you have for students or people just starting out?

The most important thing is to make stuff. Just keep making stuff you love. If you have to do it at night because you're not making stuff you love at your day job, that's fine. Figure out what you love to do and what you're good at and then practice, practice, practice. Make crappy stuff. Make it better. Put it out there in the world. If you have an internet connection, you have a free platform to share your work with millions of people. Make something they'll want to share.

I'm starting a card company. Can you give me some business advice?

Cool! I don’t do individual consulting work, but I’ve written several blog posts over the years that you may find helpful.

What do you use for drawing? Do you draw and scan everything, or what?

I found a really cool Steve Jobs quote. Can I put it on a card and sell it?

We are not copyright lawyers and copyright law is ridiculously complicated. That said, Emily wrote a blog post about using famous quotes that people have found helpful.

How do you come up with your ideas?

Practice, luck, magic, wine and an extensive background in coming up with hundreds of ideas a week, 99% of which never went anywhere. You can read more about this in Emily’s blog post “On Having Ideas: Start with Your Brand.”

I have a genius idea for a product/book/thingy, can I send it to you?

Unfortunately, we’re currently unable to accept unsolicited submissions (aka book manuscripts, product ideas, journal concepts, etc.).
